• Scheduled Caste in SEBC list of another state

My wife is from West Bengal and is from 'Sunri' caste which is a Scheduled Caste. She also has valid Scheduled Caste certificate, where caste is mentioned is 'sunri'.
'Sunri' caste is listed as SEBC(state list of socially and educationally backward classes) in Odisha.
If she applies for job under Odisha Govt., will she be eligible for SEBC on the basis of 'Scheduled Caste' certificate of West Bengal?

Hello,

No she will have to obtain the same from Odhisa as well since she will be claiming state reservation and therefore she will have to produce a certificate issued by the same state.

If she is a resident of west Bengal and has not lived in odisha and is not a domicile of odisha then she cannot be treated as a schedule caste in odisha. She would be treated as  general category candidate.

If the certificate given by WB state is recognised as per the state government list of Odisha then you can apply for the same.

However backward class is different from scheduled caste, hence you may first clarify the eligibility and then apply for it.
