Defamation and article 66a IT Act
Respected Sir
I am a government employee since 2015, but a few people/group of my society TEXT MESSAGED on the mobile phones of the relatives/other people of my society stating that I duped my IN LAWS to marry their daughter by falsely telling them that I am a government servant. As according to them I was/am a unemployed man and to state this they have used Derogatory Remarks like nikkamma, against me and circulated the message to several people ,who came over to my place asking justification for the same.
This has brought a lot of shame to me and my family and the pain caused is beyond words.
They have used a promotional bulk messaging portal bearing number 51401 for the same and the Name of the Chairman of our society (who refused to be aware of/participated in the matter, when reached out for clarification).
I want to lodge a Defamation case against these people who have brought so much disgrace to me and my family. Kindly suggest me a way for it.
Regards

Thank You Sir for providing answers to my query..I visited the District Court yesterday..where the lawyers told me the following-
1. The message was circulated publicly by a bulk messaging promotional portal 51401, and not by any private/individual mobile number. So they said either you trace down this promotional number and the ones who paid them to use this service, so that a concrete evidence can be used to file a defamation case.
2. The name of the person written in the entire text is quoted as if he has started some social reform movement for our society and the group of people who circulated this message are deeply influnced by him.
3. This person whose name is mentioned in the message...claims that he is not involved in this message circulation.
4. Now the dilemma I am in is that...I have a Promotional Portal Number 51401 from which repeated messages are being sent to multiple mobiles quoting my name, No Person attached to this is directly visible, tracking down this number seems far fetched for a normal person like me.
So should I first lodge a FIR and then a Defamation case?
The local police station is not interested in taking this FIR considering it a Trivial Issue.Instead making me understand that one should forget about these small matters.
So should I go for Online FIR or Directly A Defamation Case?
