• DOB change in Passport

Hi,
How can we change DOB in passport? Do we still need court orders to change DOB?
I have heard that some rules are changed in dec 2016 for changing dob in PP.
My actual dob is 01/05/1989 on which all of my documents are made. But last week when i have taken english format BC from corporation its states my DOB as 25/08/1989. ( 4 months gap). It seems impossible to change DOB in BC so I am planning to change it PP.

So i want to know the actual procedure to change DOB in PP.

Date of birth can be changed in passport if there is supporting proof for that.

To do this one need to first make an affidavit from a first class magistrate and then make a newspaper application.

This apart the passport authority may insist on other formalities.

Dear Clint,

by what source your DOB was first recorded in your school and how it followed in all your documents, on ur birth , BC must have issued ?

Take that BC with authority n asked them to rectify the mistake, n if they do not than approach court with both original BC.

If you are thinking to adopt easy way by changing your DOB in PP, than what about other documents, ?

might your documents get confused and under scrutiny n may be penal offense ,

So advisable to steady on right procedure and rectify actual mistake,

As per the latest revised guidelines, passport issuing authorities (PIAs) have been authorised to consider request of each applicant seeking change in date of birth irrespective of the period that would have lapsed after the issue of the passport.

The probabilities are high but as per the recent guidelines the RPO will have to consider the application separately and no straight jacket formula can be applied while deciding the same.

Seeking changes in date of birth in existing passports will become hassle-free with government further simplifying services relating to issuance of the travel document.

Making the changes in existing rule, the government has also allowed digitally signed marriage and birth certificates as valid proofs of marriage and birth respectively.

As per the revised guidelines, passport issuing authorities (PIAs) have been authorised to consider request of each applicant seeking change in date of birth irrespective of the period that would have lapsed after the issue of the passport.

According to earlier guidelines, request for change of DOB was allowed within five years of issuance of the passport and the entire process was lengthy and cumbersome as it involved lot of paper work.

If the PIA is satisfied with the claim based on documents submitted by the applicant, then passports with revised DOB can be issued by the authorities concerned.

I was not minor at that time. I was 21. I made PP in 2010.

It wont matter much, you can approach the passport authorities with an application in the prescribed format or any format, submit the requirements, you will get an acknowledgment and after verification, you may be issued with the fresh passport with correct date of birth.

what are the chances that RPO will reject my application? As now i am presenting registered BC with corporation as proof. Previously in 2010 at the time of PP application I provided hand written BC.

The birth certificate issued by the authorities competent to issue the same shall be the valid proof for making the changes in the existing passport.

You may approach the RPO and comply with the formalities or procedures laid down and get your task completed.
