• Witness by a govt employee

I am witness in a dowry case which is filled by my sister against her husband in 2007. Then I was not in any job and now I am a govt employee. Previous month I was cross examined by lawyer in which I hide about my govt job. When asked by lawyer whether I am a govt employee, I deny and I told that I am not a govt employee. Today my office has received an RTI from my "sister in law" about my job. I am depressed to know that sir. Please advice me what to do at this time? Whether the court will punish me for hiding my professional details?

3.Now of they do not run after you seeking punishment for giving false evidence you are lucky.

When the case was filed you were unemployed, hence you may maintain this stand in the event of any enquiry.

In that case your statement will not be relied upon and rest there will be no problem if the statement has not been given on affidavit.
