From that time i am struggling to get a marriage certificate. The concerned persons are saying that without my parents you will not get a marriage certificate. Now its more than a year. I have the certificate issued by the temple authorities. I am trying to go to canada and i want to update my passport. 1) since your marriage is solemnised in Chandigarh you can register your marriage where your marriage has been solemnised

2) in the alternative you can register marriage wherein you are permanently residing ie Samana

3) presence of parents is not necessary

4) apply for registration of marriage in Chandigarh

For registering your marriage your parents consent is not required.

Somebody has misguided you thoroughly in this regard.

If you have the temple certificate for the solemnisation of marriage, then go to the jurisdictional marriage registrar's office along with two witnesses, your residential and age proof identity cards, photographs ill up the necessary forms and comply with the other formalities properly, you will get the marriage certificate on the same day or the next day.

We got married in chandigarh. But my husbands place is in samana a small town in patiala which is almost 100 km away from chandigarh. Our permanent address is in samana. So where should we go for registration of marriage? We have contacted marriage register office samana and they are telling that presence of my parents is mandatory for photograph. What should i do?

The marriage registrar should not insist parents consent because there is no such provision in law for that.

You may try to get the marriage registered in Chandigarh itself.
