• Legally changed name, which name to use for govt jobs application

Dear Experts,
I have changed my name legally few years ago after my graduation. The name change was also published in Andhra Pradesh Gazette and newspapers. I have my passport, Aadhar, PAN etc in my new name which I have applied for after name change. I would like to apply for a Government job. The application form requires to fill the name as per the SSC/10th certificate. However, My SSC certificate has my old name as the name was changed after graduation. There are no clear guidelines from the Public service commission in this scenario. Shall I use my old name or new name? If I use my old name, I may have to face issues while giving the exam because I do not have any ID proof with old name (which is sometimes asked as a proof at the examination centre), also I will have to face hassles once I join the service. Please advise.

1.Since it is asking for SSC certificate name then better us the old name.

2.Since you have the affidavit and Gazette notification you can use the both names.

3. If you carry the affidavit and gazette notification no problem should airse.

You should use the new name because for all legal reasons you are what you got changed.

You just need to prove you and the name mentioned in SSC certificate are same, for this , you need to show that you got your name changed later on.

If you mention the name other than the one found in the SSC certificate, your application may be rejected stating that the name is not tallying.

Hence you apply with the name found in the SSC certificate itself and after joining you can submit an application to the organisation to change the name as per the name changed subsequently
