Landlord is unnecessarily chastising
We are 3 working women occupying a 3 bhk, and the rent agreement has been renewed beginning May this year. Our landlord who happens to be a senior citizen has been found to reprimand us at his fancy for anything with/without cause stating us to be irresponsible in our demeanor on number of occasions. Whether it be for requesting him to fulfill his side of agreement (of installation of electrical appliance) as committed during leasing out his house, or processing the documentation for rent renewal and co-ordinating with the broker arranged by him. Even to the extent that for our own police verification, he asked us to get it done (stating he is old and he knows it is the owner's responsibility; but where will he go between police stations). We arranged for a broker for the police verification and once all the paper work got completed with necessary attestation, he backed down from paying the amount towards the work.
Moreover, he spoke rudely on how we ladies didn't take him in confidence and decided a fancy rate (a trivial 1500/- for 3 of us) without consulting him. In addition to that, he is going back on his words on how he never told us to get it processed on his behalf (he had also committed to bear 50% of total expenses (2300) towards renewal+police verification but now says that it should be equally divided between 3 tenants and owner since tenants are not blood related). All of this is leaving a bad taste, since he keeps coming up with illogical remarks and indirectly threatening that he has anger issues and he isn't liking the way we are managing the finances that we owe to him and he can find many tenants. From the 10% increase in rent annually, just to round up the figure to near 1000, he got insistent in increasing his property rate which we agreed to avoid any mess.
His son has also been intermittently mediating between us, but it feels odd to make a complaint against his father. The way it is escalating, it appears that without any fault of ours, we may be evicted from the house.
