What is the punishment in a case like this . Can the accused getaway on flimsy grounds like it happens quite often . How important is the role of a witness . How many witnesses are needed to nail the culprit.?

The role of a witness is most crucial to the fate of the case. Without a witness testifying against the accused the latter will be exonerated for sure. The number of witnesses required depends on the facts of the case.
