• Stamp on a property

Sir,
I bought a property in Delhi in 2008 for Rs.1,86,000/- through agreement to sale on a stamp paper of Rs.50/- I do not pay stamp duty on that time. My questions are
(1) May I pay stamp duty now/today?
(2) if yes, then on which amount i will pay stamp duty, on Rs. 1,86,000 or on the current circle rate of the property.
Please do the needful.
with thanks & Regards

No you can't because your case is not of payment of deficit stamp duty because you did not pay any stamp duty at all. Hence, you'll have to execute a fresh Agreement/Registry and pay the requisite duties as per the current market rate/circle rate.

Sale agreement is not a title deed. Moreover unregistered sale agreement is not a valid document.

You can get a registered sale deed executed in your favor through your vendor to have a marketable title to your property.

The registration of the property shall involve stamp duty and registration charges as applicable.

The stamp duty and the other charges are state subject which may be enquired in the local registrar's office.
