Passport office would not correct date of birth in your passport merely on basis of birth certificate
they would insist on court orders to rectify date of birth in your passport
Place of birth is incorrect in Passport
Hi - The place of birth is incorrect in my passport. The place of birth is correct in my Birth certificate. I would like to get the place of birth corrected in my passport and have it match my Birth certificate. Do I need a court order for this? Or is it sufficient to provide the birth certificate as proof to get this corrected in my passport? Thanks! Ajay

Even for correcting place of birth you would need court orders
Dear Sir,
To change the date/place of birth in the passport, you have to apply for a "Re-issue" of passport and get the specified change done in the personal particulars. To check the complete list of documents to be submitted along with the application form.
Only birth certificate is sufficient

if you find any mistake/error in the particulars printed in the passport booklet as per the application form submitted, please return the passport for necessary rectification at Regional Passport Office concerned. If the rectification is approved by the competent authority a new booklet with new passport number would be issued. Any additional fees required to be paid would depend solely on merit of the case. In certain cases, applicant can be advised to apply for re-issue of passport too.

For change of place of birth, you have been suggested what is to be done in my previous post.
You may follow the suggestions mentioned therein and comply with the necessary requirements as instructed by the passport authorities.
- For changing /correcting the place of birth in the passport, you have to apply for a Re-issue of passport and get the specified change done in the personal particulars.
- Since your birth certificate having the correct place of birth then you can submit the same with other supporting documents of proofs for correcting the same, and a court order is not required.
1. You shall have to execute an affidavit before the 1st Class Judicial Magistrate affirming that inadvertently wrong place of birth has been mentioned in your passport which is required to be corrected.
2. Once the said affidavit is executed, you can apply for issuance of a fresh passport amending the place of birth in it.
The procedure for correction is the same for both DOB and also the place of birth.
