Patta is a Grant or Dole , earlier by Zamindars now by govt whereby the authority gift a piece of land generally to landless persons to cultivate or enjoy a piece of land on payment of revenue for a particular period of time.

It is a licence to use the land but not transferring ownership.

1. Patta is a document confirming the gift of a piece of land executed by the Government to poor landless pesons.

2. It signifies ownership of the said piece of land, some times subjected to conditions.
