Request for Guidance on Vehicle Replacement for Defective Tata Safari
I recently purchased a Tata Safari, and just four days after the purchase, the vehicle broke down during a trip 150 km away from home, leaving my family- young child and 2 elderly parents and me stranded on the highway. We had to wait three hours for roadside assistance and eventually had to leave the vehicle behind, returning home at midnight. The car was so new that it didn’t even have a number plate yet.
Since then, the vehicle has been with the service center, where I’ve been given contradictory diagnoses, ranging from a sensor issue to a battery problem, and finally an unbelievable claim of adulterated fuel. This claim doesn’t add up, given that another car from our group, which filled up at the same Indian Oil station, had no issues. The Safari also showed none of the symptoms of fuel adulteration. Notably, the car had driven smoothly for 200 km and over 24 hours after refuelling before breaking down, with no symptoms associated with adulterated fuel.
Now, they’re replacing parts worth over ₹2 lakhs without a proper root cause analysis, increasing my concern that there’s a deeper, undisclosed issue with the vehicle which has severely shaken my trust in the vehicle’s reliability and safety.
My Questions:
1. Is it possible to push for a complete vehicle replacement under these circumstances? Given the misdiagnoses and incorrect claim of adulterated fuel (proofs with us) and the fact that the vehicle is brand new, should Tata Motors provide a replacement instead of continuing repairs?
2. How should I approach Tata Motors to effectively push for a replacement? What steps should I take to ensure that my request for a replacement is taken seriously?
Any guidance on how to proceed with this situation would be greatly appreciated.
