Can Streedhan of 16Lakhs given as cheque in the name of Father-in-law be claimed?

It's been 2years since we married and have a 6months old daughter. My manipulative MIL said that someone in the community asked her that why is she not wearing any jewellery to the functions and asked her to wear my jewels. So i gave her my 11 sovereign Haram and another 8 sovereign Haram to just wear for the occasion. When i wanted wanted those haram for my baby shower function, i was shocked to know that they have pledged my jewels without my notice or even my husband's. Just a week before my function they just returned one haram. They have been holding this for about 1&half year. And when asked about why did they do this, my FIL said that whatever the DIL brings in to their house that belongs to them and they have every right to pledge or do whatever they want. Also they added that whatever we did from bride side in the form of money, rituals and all - they weren't satisfied and created a big fight and my husband and FIL came to hit my father when he questioned about their statements. My father gave 16L cheque and they wanted to be in FIL name. This was given to buy 10L car and 6L to buy electronic appliances. For all these days i kept on asking to buy car, my husband never responded. And inspite of giving 6L, i myself had bought appliances worth 50k and nobody objected and they currently possess it in their home. This family lend their money for interest without licence so i don't trust them on what they did to my money. Will I be able to claim back 16L. Please advise.
