Parental Abuse

I am a 19-year old girl living with my parents. My parents have been mentally, emotionally, verbally and physically abusing me for years. They have resorted to everything from name-calling, insults, public humiliation, death threats, threats of calling my friends and teachers to insult me, emotional blackmail, to physical abuse such as slapping, hitting (sometimes with objects such as an iron or a knife), pulling my hair, punching, and even choking, in an attempt to make me comply with everything they say. And when I tried to seek help from other family members, friends or teachers, they said that they’re only doing this because they want the best for me and are worried about my education. I come from an extremely conservative family, so most of the other family members tend to believe my parents and not me. My complaints are simply treated as teenage rebellion. All this has affected my physical and mental health adversely, and I’m unable to function normally. Every aspect of my life – my academics, social life, personal life – is suffering. And my parents try justifying their behaviour by citing my poor academic performance. All of this almost drove me to try to commit suicide twice. I want to move out of my parents’ house and I want to take some legal action against them to make sure that they can’t force me or harm me in the future. From a legal perspective, what course of action should I pursue?
